What Does Stress Test And EKG Showing Murmur Indicate?

Question: I have hypertension. I was diagnose 10 yrs ago and have kept it controlled. The last 2 yrs it has been going
up on several events that I contribute life stressors such as school, family etc. The meds that was prescribed was atenolol and (Lasix) which I never took. I notice that it no longer worked for me and my dr. switched me to bystolic and it stayed elevated with swelling in lower extremities and I was switched to lisinopril. I started a cough within a yr and now on losartan 25mg and hctz 37.5-25mg as of this month. I have started to have chest pain like angina that would come and go in the past 3 wks. I was thinking I could have a coronary problem my mother and older brother passed with heart attacks. I am in ok physical shape but could benefit from more exercise. I eat a balance meal usually and drink plenty of water. I watch my salt intake and still feel there is something going on with my heart. I had a stress test and ekg and was told there was a murmur. (mitral) Since starting the new meds my heart rate has stayed elevated at rest high 80's. Don't drink or smoke. Last 2 yrs a college student so I haven't been as active as before nor sleeping much. Brief Answer:
Please let me have details requested below
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
You have written your history very well and it is helpful in answering your query. However I would like to know your age and your lipid profile.
The first step to know whether you have a heart problem would be to calculate your risk. http://www.qrisk.org/index.php
is a good site to check it.
Next would be to get an EKG taken when you have the pain or chest discomfort.
Let me know and we'll take it from there.
In the meanwhile, please do some moderate exercise if it doesn't produce chest pain.
Please let me have details requested below

Thank you. I had my fasting cholesterol done a month ago:
Total cholesterol 171
Triglycerides 77
LDL 101
HDL 55
Advise to do moderate exercise check diet and recheck in 6 months
age is 50. I am concern that I could have a blockage since I am now having angina pain and no one seems to address that concern. Can the murmur cause the feeling along with their could be a narrowing of the heart artery. I wish there
was a way noninvasive to verify no blockage.

Brief Answer:
Options as below
Detailed Answer:
There is a non invasive way to know if there is a blockage of the coronary arteries.
It is CT coronary angiogram. Any good radiology department will be able to do it.
Have you had an EKG during the pain? If so upload the image.
If the resting EKG is normal, there are two options - an ambulatory 12 lead EKG or a TMT.
What is your 10 year cardiac risk?
I had sent you the link in the last answer.
The murmur is unlikely to be from a coronary artery. It is usually produced at a valve.
