What Does Sudden Onset Of Loud Tinnitus Indicate?

Question: I wakened early this morning with a loud thumping like noise in my left ear. There is no dizziness, etc. However, the noise is still there and would be hard to get used to. Although it is Saturday and my doctor is not in, I am not sure I would not want to drive any distance. Is there any simple remedy?

Hi, thanks for your query.

Sudden onset of loud tinnitus suggest middle ear catarrh, or inner ear disease .
This needs clinically evaluation. Empirically you can take decongestant tablet twice daily for 3 to 5 days+betahistine tablets 16 mg twice daily .
