default
Posted on Thu, 28 Nov 2024
Question: Borderline ecg at er and they said it was normal and let me go…. But I read the report and it said this

normal P axis, V-rate 50-99
Probable left atrial enlargement
P >50mS, <-0.10mV V1

What does that mean enlargement? Wouldn’t they tell me if something was bad

Brief Answer:
I would recommend performing a cardiac ultrasound.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

I read carefully your ECG report and would explain that these changes are not specific for any serious cardiac disorder. From the other hand, the ECG is not the best tool to examine the heart function and structure.

You should also know that ECG finding should also be correlated with the patient symptoms. For this reason, I would like to know more on your past medical history and your actual complaints.

I would also recommend performing a cardiac ultrasound, in order to examine better the heart function and structure, in order to determine if these ECG changes are really related to the changes in heart structure.

Hope you will find this information helpful!

I remain at your disposal in case of further questions whenever you need!
