What Does The MRI Results Indicate?

Question: I have several problems...lupus anti-coalagulation (3 DVTs with 1 PE), diabeties, miagraines, thyroid, degeneritive disc disease (3) back surgeries, I still have tingling and numbness in my hands, arms, feet and legs, seizures and it goes on and on.....I fall very easy and have broken my ankles 6 or 7 times with surgery two times. I also fell and broke my arm. I have been told by two doctors that I have Chiari Malformation. I have a recent MRI and it said negative for Chiari but it did say minimal periventricular frontal lobe white matter disease which is the sequelae of small vessel ischemia. I am 47 years old. What does this mean and should I be concerned?
Brief Answer:
you should not worry specifically
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I have been through your question and understand your concern.
Despite all the problems you have, it is a good sign that your doctor excluded the Chiari Malformation which is very debilitatIng.
The periventricular white matter disease is very common after a certain age and is due to closure of terminal arterioles. It is believied that hypertension plays a role in developing such lesions. Thats why it is recommended to check your BP and consult a Cardiologist for an eventual therapy. Otherwise there is not much you can do.
Still, these lesions are benign and not progressive, so you should not worry.
Wishing you good health, please feel free for further questions.
