What Does The MRI Scan Of Lumbar Spine Indicate?
Recently i have done MRI scan for Lumbar Spine,
In MRI There are multiple impressions found.
>Loss of cervical lordosis.
>Mild Bulge of C5-6 and C6-7 discs indent the thecal sac.
>sacralization of L5 vertebra.
>Mild tetrolisthesis of L5 over S1 vertebra. No evedence of spondylolysis.
>Irregular Endplate changes are seen at multiple levels in the dorso-lumbar spine from D6-7 to L3-4 levels-possibility of juvenile osteochondrosis to be considered.
>Minimul bulges of D3-4,D6-7,D7-8,D11-12 and D12-L1 discs indent the thecal sac.
>Minimul Bulge of L1-2,L2-3 and L4-5 discs indent the thecal sac.
I am very much scaring and tensed with these findings..May i know what could be the treatment and how i can i become normal.please suggest.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Loss of cervical lordosis means loss of normal curvature of the spine which can cause a pain in the neck in the long term.
Mild bulge of the discs at various levels is not worrisome. This is just the beginning of the disc problem and is associated with mild occasional pain. The problem starts only when there is a nerve root compression which is not present in your case.
Irregular end plate changes are also usually asymptomatic. Sacralisation of the L5 vertebra can cause a low back pain. All these are minor changes and can be treated with medicines and regular exercise.
Physiotherapy like intermittent lumbar/cervical traction , back and cervical exercise reduces pressure of disc bulge & gives relief.
The following measures will help with the pain
• Lie on a hard bed.
• Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required ( dont repeat a dose before 6 hours) with food.
• Avoid forward bending.
• Correct your posture while sitting
• Avoid prolonged sitting
• Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights.
• Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.
- After the initial pain has subsided, remedial exercises to strengthen the spine are very important to restore normal spinal movements and muscle strength. The main aim of exercise is to encourage mobility, reduce muscle spasm, prevent further deterioration in the muscles and speed recovery.
- Use analgesics and muscle relaxants to relieve pain and muscle spasm, as needed. Vitamin B12 supplements & Pregabalin may be helpful in controlling the neuropathic pain.
I hope this answers your query.
