What Does The Abdomen Ultrasound Report Indicate?
Question: I had a ultrasound of my abdomen, can you tell what they are saying in plain English?
US ABDOMINAL: 11/6/2014 11:26 AM
HISTORY: Abnormal LFTs
PROCEDURE: Real-time examination of the abdomen is performed by the
technologist with a multifrequency sector transducer with limited Doppler
and color Doppler study.
COMPARISON: None.
FINDINGS: The gallbladder by history has been surgically removed.
The liver is homogeneous in echotexture. No focal lesions noted. The
right lobe of the liver measures 15.7cm in sagittal length. Biliary tract
is not dilated with extrahepatic common duct measuring 5 mm. Portal vein
flow is directed toward the liver.
The abdominal aorta and inferior vena cava are unremarkable with distal
aorta at 1.7cm.
The right kidney measures 11.9cm with renal parenchymal thickness
measuring 1.9cm.
The left kidney measures 11.8cm with renal parenchymal thickness
measuring 1.7cm.
Cortical medullary differentiation is preserved with no hydronephrosis or
perirenal fluid.
The spleen measures 10.7cm and appears homogeneous in echotexture.
The visualized pancreas appears unremarkable.
No free fluid is demonstrated within the upper abdomen. No focal
tenderness was demonstrated with transducer compression.

Brief Answer:
Normal for a person who had cholecystectomy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting HCM with your query.
I have gone through your upper abdominal ultrasound report.
Your liver, biliary system, spleen, portal blood flow, abdominal aorta, kidneys and the visualized portion of pancreas are normal.
Also there is no free fluid in the abdomen and there is no tenderness, which occurs in people with a gastric or duodenal ulcer disease.
So it is a normal report except for the missing gall bladder (after surgical removal)
I shall be happy to answer if you have further queries.
Wish you good health.
