What Does The Following CT Scan Report Indicate?
Calcification in nodule is suggestive of old, healed, inactive, benign lesion
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem. But I wouldn't be overly concerned about calcification. Calcification in nodule is suggestive of old, healed, inactive, benign lesion. Therefore the possibility of benign nodules is more in your case, so no need to worry much for these nodules.
But better to get done repeat CT thorax after 6 months from first CT to see size of nodules and appearance of new nodules.
If size is same and no new nodules than no need to worry. But if size is increasing or new nodules are developing than you need investigations like bronchoscopy, CT guided biopsy etc.
But at present, no need to worry. Get done repeat CT thorax after 3 months.
Please let me know
1. Do you smoke?
2. Did you have tuberculosis or pneumonia in the past?
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
Get done repeat CT thorax after 6 months of this report.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
Since you are smoker and having age more than 50 years, minimal possibility of malignancy is there.
More possibility of healed calcified lesions due to pneumonia, but better to get done repeat CT thorax after 6 months of this report.
And if there is increase in size of any of nodule or increase in the number of nodules than you further investigations to rule out malignancy.
Hope I have solved your query.
