Had ST1 LungCancer2013:treated with StereoStatic Radiation. CTscan last JulyClear:CT scan Now shows New Spots on other Lung &Enlarged Lymph nodes: Blood work came back Fine though?.. Have Severe COPD also:
...My Questions Are: Has Cancer come back& Spread beingST4 Now?
... If so is Recurrent Cancer Better then Progressive and Treatable Still ?..
....Wouldn't it Show Cancerous Cells in Recent Blood work ?.. And if Not Advanced Staged Cancer then What else Would the CTScan Suggest or Could it be?..

Brief Answer:
yes possibility of recurrence is there
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
First of all, we need to look at the details of the nodules and lymph nodes, particularly size, character and location. Many a times, infection can also cause small lymph nodes and lung nodule. But still, recurrence is definitely a possibility.
Blood work doesn't pick up lung cancer so those would not help in diagnosis. We may need a PET scan and or bronchoscopy to diagnose it.
There are many treatment options nowadays for recurrent lung cancer like chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy. So treatment is definitely possible.
Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.

Wouldnt it be Metastasized if it is Cancer since the Spots are in the other lung as i Mentioned and Not Recurrant ?.. and wouldnt antibiotics take care of any infections as This individuals been on them for months prior .. 3x a week for last 5 months to prevent infection ..
Brief Answer:
yes metastatic if this is cancer recurrence
Detailed Answer:
By recurrence I mean metastatic recurrence and not localized recurrence.
Sometimes infection, even if cured, can leave back spots and lymph nodes. There comes the importance of detailed interpretation of the ct report and PET scan.

So if it is Metastasic wouldnt it be then Stage 4 Automatically as its Now looks like its im the other lung andthe chest lumph nodes .. And wouldnt Radiation be out of the question because stage 4 is usually Only treated by chemotherapy which if
Not targeted for this persons age 70 and Copd be unable to Handle
Not targeted for this persons age 70 and Copd be unable to Handle
Brief Answer:
metastatic and stage 4 means the same thing
Detailed Answer:
Both metastatic and stage 4 denotes the disease has spread. There is no scope of radiation if it is confirmed that the nodules and nodes are due to cancer.
Chemotherapy can be given in 70 year old patient if he is XXXXXXX enough and reasonably fit.
Otherwise targeted and biological therapy are there.

So if it is cancerous and it is in the other Lung and chest lymph nodes it has Spread obviously and is Stage 4 essentially .. or does it Still Depend on the lab results of the biopsy?: eventhough it would seem useless to perform the biopsy all together as this individuals medical History of having stage1 lung cancer Automatically means if theres Cancer Now in his Near by Lymph nodes and other Lung it HAS TO BE DUE TO PROGRESSION OF PREVIOUS CANCER ?
Brief Answer:
not necessarily
Detailed Answer:
If you can upload the CT report I can guide you better regarding the possible nature of the nodules.
Biopsy may be difficult hence PET scan may characterize better.
Till then I can only say that it is suspicious. It is not automatically cancer recurrence.
