What Does The Following MRI Report Indicate?
Question: Yes my mri says L2-L3 desiccated disk, L3- L4 circumferential disk, and L4-L5 bulging and severe bilateral neuroforaminal stenosis. My question is do I need surgery

Severe foraminal stenosis if producing pain and radiation of pain due to nerve compression in foramina to lower limbs definitely need surgical correction as a permanent remedy.Although physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medicines,muscle relaxants and pelvic traction are some temporary measures which your Orthopedic doctor may consider depending on physical condition,symptoms,signs, if not severe, but sooner or later, surgery may be indicated.So seek your spine surgeons opinion and evaluation
Dessicated disc lead to narrowing of vertebral joint space and may lead to osteoarthrosis later on and increase pressure on ligaments,joint tissues facet joints in surrounding region with secondary degenerative changes in these and vertebral fusion is a solution.
Evidently, narrowed (stenosed) foramina implicate the ensuing nerve and nerve root leading to pain locally and down radiation to lower limb.These foramina have to be widened to relieve nerve compression syndrome if any
Foraminotomy and fusion are the usual surgical options
Timing and decision depend much on physical examination and clinical symptoms produced
Surgical option in totatlity of condition may be good
