Brief Answer:
Tissue sampling is important to confirm condition and start treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

It is recommended that any enlarged glands in the neck is investigated in detail. There can be many causes for it and lymphoma is one of the conditions. Chronic infections can cause similar enlargement of neck glands. Therefore the FNAC biopsy is required to differentiate between lymphoma and cinfections or inflammatory causes.

Therefore a tissue sampling has been requested by your doctor to confirm the condition and start treatment.

Sampling is done with care and usually under ultrasound scan guidance so that it is accurately done and with XXXXXXX discomfort. Tissue sampling usually is done by FNAC or biopsy.

Hope your query is answered.
