What Does The Following Biochemistry Report Indicate?
Question: I am a male of 59+ age. On 21.3.2015 my Biochemistry reports are as under:-
Blood glucose fasting:73 mg/dl
Blood glucose PP:85
Serum Bilirubin (total): 0.9 mg/dl
Serum Bilirubin direct: 0.4 mg/dl
Serum Bilirubin Indirect: 0.5 mg/dl
SGOT/AST:22.3
SGPT/ALT:33.9
ALKALINE PHOSPHATE:85.6
LIPID PROFILE
Serum cholesterol: 254.6 mg/dl
TRIGLYCERIDE: 132.6
HDL CHOLESTROL:56.8
VLDL:26.52
LDL:171.28
TOTAL CHOLESTEROL/HDL RATIO:4.48
BP: NORMAL
PLEASE NOTE: ON 27.3.15 MY HOLMIUM LASER PROSTATE SURGERY (S NO.898) AND CYSTOPANENDOSCOPY (S nO.765) WAS DONE FOR ENLARGED PROSTATE.
All above blood test were done before surgery i.e. on 21.3.15. All other tests before surgery were found normal including ECG and Echocardiography.
Please advise as my serum cholesterol is: 254.6 and LDL: 171.28
please advise for this what to do and food items to take I am taking toned milk one cup regularly evening and morning

Yes certainly you seem to have elevated total and LDl cholesterol.
This can initially managed by lifestyle modification.
Drugs are needed only in case if lifestyle modification is needed.
For this I advise you the following.
1.Daily brisk walk for 20 min a day for at least 5 days a week.
2.Regular intake of oats 30 grams in diluted milk for breakfast initially for 2 months followed by similar intake for dinner as well.
Drugs like statins are needed only if the above measures fail .
