What Does The Following Blood Test Report Indicate?

I am a 49 year old man and the only medication I take is carbamazepine (Tegretol) for facial nerve pain relief Trigeminal neuralgia 800mg daily dropped from 1200mg three weeks ago. Blood test was taken Sept 4/2015. Is the medication causing my GGT and LIPASE levels to be high. Should I be concerned.
Blood results:
GGT result = 77 U/L,
Cholesterol Total = 6.75 mmol/L
Triglycerides = 1.56 mmol/L
HDL Cholesterol = 2.08 mmol/L
LDL-C = 3.96 mmol/L
NON-HDL-C = 4.67 mmol/L
LIPASE = 93 U/L
Thank you
Increased GGT may be due to carbamazepine intake in your case.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Findings suggests raised total cholesterol,LDL,GGT and lipase level.
Increased GGT may indicate liver injury.It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis,alcohol intake,altered lipid profile,medicines,auto immune causes etc.
You may need few more investigations like routine hemogram,random blood sugar,viral markers,ultrasound of abdomen.
Increased GGT may be due to carbamazepine intake in your case as it may cause increase in GGT in up to 10 % of the cases.You may need follow up test.
You should also avoid saturated fat and take lot of fibers in your diet.Go for exercise regularly.
You may also need to take statins for raised cholesterol and LDL level if findings persists.
Increased lipase need clinical correlation.You may need amylase and ultrasound to detect any pancreatic abnormality.
