What Does The Following Hysterosalpingogram Report Indicate?
In hysterosalpingograms (Urografin 76% - 20 ml):
Uterus: it is normoflexio, triangular, the cavity sizes slightly exceed the norm, the boundaries are non-clear due to the postoperative sword-cut in the lower segment.
The right-side uterine tube: the contrast substance non-uniformly and difficultly filled all the parts of the right uterine tube, didn't pass to the small pelvis, the ampullar part narrowed.
The left-side uterine tube: the contrast substance contrasted the proximal part of the left-side uterine tube.
The contrast substance was not found in the small pelvis cavity.
Mild tubal blocks might be there but pregnancy is still possible for you
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. HSG is hysterosalpingography which is a procedure to see the inner cavity of uterus and patency of fallopian tubes.
2. In your HSG, the uterus cavity is normal and there is sign of an earlier cesarean section in the lower segment.
3. Regarding the right fallopian tube, the contrast is seen to pass through the initial portion and the ampulla apeears narrowed in caliber.
4. Regarding the left fallopian tube, the contrast is seen to flow in to the proximal or first half of the tube.
5. The contrast does not seem to show spillage in to the pelvic cavity which is expected in a completely normal study.
You might have mild tubal blocks which can be treated with cannulation using minimally invasive techniques. However, HSG findings might not always be confirmatory.
Since your uterus cavity is normal, therefore you can still have a pregnancy by normal means and if not then by artificial procedures like artificial insemination or IVF.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. There certainly is blockage in the tubes on both sides as I have written earlier. However, saying whether the blocks are mild or severe is difficult unless I do the HSG myself.
2. On the right side, the tube is patent but shows difficulty in filling as documented in your report, while on the left side the tube probably is getting filled only in its first part. In this way the block in left tube is more than on the right side.
3. Doing a laproscopy will give a more clear picture because the tubes can be visualized better and examined in detail.
4. Since you have had a pregnancy at age 24 years, therefore you do not suffer from any congenital condition that hinders pregnancy.
5. Most likely adhesions might have developed. This is a condition when the opposing surfaces of walls of the tubes have become adherent. I have come across women who have conceived naturally right after getting a HSG done which shows tubal block. Therefore I am being optimistic with you based on my personal experiences with patients.
6. However, your doctor might still be right and that there is a big block which may not open up unless treated by cannulation. Laproscopy is indicated to examine your tubes in detail.
7. Please do not get disheartened. Once laproscopy is done and findings confirmed and treated, you can discuss with your doctor and choose to try natural methods. What I intend to convey to you is that natural pregnancy is not unthinkable but might depend on certain findings which are yet to be confirmed by laproscopy.
The good news is that your uterus is normal in appearance and 31 years is a young age and artifical methods for pregnancy will surely work for you.
Hope your query is answered.

Infection in uterus after C section might cause blocked tubes
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. It is not due to the procedure of C section but some women might develop mild forms of infection in the uterus after delivery by C section. This infection can easily enter the tubes and cause tubal block when it heals. It is some sort of scarring that takes place in the walls or ends of the fallopian tubes.
Hope your query is answered.
