What Does The Following Pelvic CT Scan Report Indicate?
Thank you.
1. Large left inguinal hernia containing anteriorly herniated descending colon/sigmoid colon without evidence of bowel wall thickening or Edema, portal Venous gas or pneumatosis. or any other evidence of strangulation at this time, although the patient is at risk for future bowl ischemia and obstructions.
2. No free air or significant free fluid.
3. Subtle bladder findings can be seen with cystitis; correlate with urinalysis.
4. The more distal sigmoid colon shows a short segment of incompletely distended wall versus mild nonspecific colitis. Corollate for clinical significance.

Findings suggests large non complicated left sided inguinal hernia.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
CT findings suggests large left sided hernia(it is a defect in anterior abdominal wall) through inguinal (groin) region. There is descend of descending colon/sigmoid colon through the herniated part.
There is no evidence of complications related to hernia means it is not obstructed/ edematous/ strangulated/ ischemia (decreased blood supply) at present. is also no evidence of intestinal wall thickening, gas in intestinal wall or portal vein. There is no free air or free fluid in abdomen.
These findings suggests absence of complications and this a good sign.
But it may get obstructed/ischemia in future which may cause surgical emergency. So, you need surgical opinion and you may be advised for operation.
There is subtle findings in urinary bladder that may be related to cystitis (urinary bladder infection). This should be confirmed by urine analysis.
There is collapsed short segment of distal sigmoid colon and it may be due to incompletely distended intestine or mild nonspecific colitis (infection). This need clinical correlation.
