What Does The Following Test Report Indicate?
Scintigraphic findings: Lexiscan-Myoview stress and resting SPECT images were reviewed side by side in the horizontal long axis, vertical long axis and short axis views. There is attenuation in the inferior wall that is more prominent at rest. No evidence of reversible ischemia. Left ventricular ejection fraction of 55%.
Conclusion: No evidence of reversible ischemia. inferior wall attenuation as described above. Left ventricular ejection fraction of 55%.
I have read this report more that once.
QUESTION: What is this report telling me?
The report is normal. You need not worry.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have carefully gone through the details provided. Lexiscan (regadenoson) is a stress agent that works by increasing blood flow in the arteries of the heart. It is given in order to evaluate for coronary artery disease. The report seems normal to me. The normal ejection fraction (EF) is 50-70%. So, 55% would be considered normal. However, you would probably like to increase it by physiologically conditioning the heart through regular brisk morning walk increasing the distance progressively as per your tolerance level.
There is no level of inadequacy in blood supply or defect in heart movement. So, you need not get concerned. The attenuation indicates that a portion is not clearly visible (shielded). The inferior or lower surface of the heart is in contact with the diaphragm. So, attenuation may occur. It is nothing to worry about.
