Hi Doctor,
As per the question i want to know the side effect as per the report that i shared. What is precautions ,diet plan and medicine i should take.
About underactive thyroid:
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
The elevated TSH level is suggestive for hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid.
The most common cause of underactive thyroid is an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto thyroiditis.
it destroys the thyroid gland and as a result it does not produce enough hormone.
At this point the TSH raises and the hormone should be taken by mouth (levothyroxine).
It is a chronic disorder and the treatment is life long.
Once the thyroid is destroyed and the functioned lowered, there is no diet or treatment that can bring it back to normal.
The side effects of it are: clinical symptoms such as: weight gain, irregular menstrual cycle, dry skin, constipation ect and elevated cholesterol or trygliceride levels.
Infertility may also be caused by it.
At the laboratory exams you reported, there is also Vit B12 defficency that is usually with autoimmune origin (like the underactive thyroid) and the Vit D level is Low (needs treatment with 50 000 UI weekly for 8 weeks).
Hope the information will help.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjetw

The treatment of the deficiencies:
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,
For the treatment of underactive thyroid your treating physician will prescribe Levothyroxine 75 mcg (depends on the weight, the presence of cardiac pathologies) once daily in the morning, with empty stomach.
Vit D3 60000 IU once weakly for 8 weeks, than 1000 IU daily for three months, will be needed for the vit D deficiency.
Regarding to VIT B12 deficiency, there are injections forms and tablets of Vit B12, a totally daily dose of 2000 mcg will be necessary.
Ask your physician for a prescription of these medications.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
