intravenous steroids/ immunotherapy
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having severe form of allergic rhinitis.
Allergic rhinitis, with out treatment can transform into allergic bronchitis (cough, wheeze and breathlessness) or sino-nasal polyposis or chronic sinusitis.
Physiologically, environmental allergens mediates a reaction in side the nose, where released histamine (present in blood) causes sequence of sneezes and running nose.
Treatment modalities depends on severity of allergic rhinitis, associated risk factors (diabetes, hypertension) and complications (polyp, allergy induced asthma).
In resistant allergic rhinitis, oral steroids or intravenous steroids can be tried initially followed by intra nasal steroids and leukotrien inhibitors (L-montus) as a maintenance treatment.
Whatever the form (mild or severe), You require treatment and follow-ups for life time to minimize the complications.
It is a type of hypersensitive reaction (allergic rhinitis), cause and timing can not be defined. Prevention of allergen is the best treatment (perfumes, deodorants. food stuffs-curd/ice creams. animal hairs, pollen and dust).
In my opinion, You need to discuss with ent surgeon/ allergiologist , consider for immunotherapy treatment.
Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
