Brief Answer:
Renal cortical cysts are common incidental finding

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You have not mentioned the characteristics of these cysts on the Ultrasound report. I presume them to be simple ones with fluid and no echoes and no enhancement with thin walls.

It is very usual to find cortical cysts on kidneys on routine Ultrasound of the abdomen or Kidneys. They are common simple cysts in elderly and are non complicated, they increase as the person ages and are present in 40% people at this age. Since the cysts are not causing any symptoms (blood in urine, Hypertension or pressure effects on structures) or asymptomatic no treatment is advised however large they are. Some Urologists advise percutaneous aspiration but I would not seem that to be valued care at the age of 75 yrs of age.

Hope this answer allays your worry. Stay calm and counsel your father as well.
