What Does The Urine Test Results Indicate?
Question: We did a urine test one month back for my son just for checkup and it shows +2 RBC , +1 Protein with no symptoms and we were advised to repeat after one month , yesterday we did another sample and it shows +1 RBC , +1 Protein with seen Epithelial cells . My son is going to Gymnasium in almost daily basis and he takes a daily protein powder supplement as part of his training (I don't know if this can contribute in the urine results). The advise was that it could be just his system and we can give him natural syrup to clean out bacteria from his UTI . Please advice specially that the recent lab report shows 9x10^6/L RBC compared to 14X10^6/L RBC in the old one I don't know how to translate this RBC/HPF .
Brief Answer:
His results are very mildy increased.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
His results are very mildy increased. However, these cannot be neglected and should be followed up again with repeat urinalysis after couple of weeks. If abnormal, an ultrasound and 24 hour urinary protein should be performed.
Important thing that needs to be ruled out is glomerulonephritis(which is inflammation of kidneys). This can be done by performing an ultrasound of abdomen/pelvis.
RBC/HPF is red blood cell per high power field.
Thanks
