Brief Answer: I think this is continued infection Detailed Answer: Hi Mr XXXXX I am Dr Saumya Mittal And I am going to try and help you with your query and your doubts I have read your query. The fact remain that you have had hepatitis B infection. HBsAg is a test that marks the acute stage of the infection. From the silence about the subject in the query, I am also assuming that you have not had antiviral therapy for hepatitis B. The other fact remains that the report suggests that the virus is probably remaining in the liver and that it has not completely gone. The negative test of HBsAg just suggests that the acute infection is over. The liver function test reports suggest that the infection is proceeding. I would suggest to a patient I was treating to consider taking antiviral therapy. It is usually needed for at least 6 months. Thereafter the continuity of the therapy depends on how you respond to the therapy. Of course this would need a gastroenterologist experienced in the administration of these medicines. There would be certain tests needed before starting the therapy, during the therapy and a few after the course is over. I hope that helps. Do feel free to ask any related further query or doubt. Best of luck Dr Mittal

Brief Answer: Further tests required Detailed Answer: I think you should check the HBV DNA PCR (Quantitative) and HBV Viral load again. The tests may tell us if the hepatitis virus are proliferating, especially in the view of HBe negative status. meanwhile have a prescription filled for ursodeoxycholic acid. Also requesting to upload the report of LFT Antiviral therapy can be started only when the replication is started Looking forward to your response Best of luck Dr Saumya Mittal

Brief Answer: tests as a precaution Detailed Answer: that was a very good idea to enter all the LFT reports. I think now we know that the levels of liver enzymes and bilirubin are largely constant. So, I would suggest you have the tests just to be sure. I dont think it is something very serious. The tablet I mentioned can be taken twice a day. But since I am not aware of the whole history, as was made obvious with those reports, I would suggest you meet your gastroenterologist before starting the medicine. Mild rise of enzymes can also be in view of high cholesterol levels. Your last tests were borderline, so I would suggest repeating those as well. Please do let me know the reports and any further query you may have Best of luck Dr Mittal
