Question: Hi Doctor,
I have done a kidney and liver function test 2 days back and I got the result today. I have attached the result with this. I am very concerned about some factors like "Total Bilirubin", "Direct Bilirubin" and "Uric Acid". Is there anything to worry as the values are little higher. Could you please look into this and tell your view.
Thanks,
XXXXX
Brief Answer:
You have mildly raised bilirubin and uric acid.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXX
Thanks for writing to HCM
I have gone through your reports in detail.
Your have mildly increased bilirubin and uric acid level.
You shouldn't worry at all.Your condition can be easily managed by diet alteration.
You also need investigations like ultrasound of abdomen to exclude other pathology.Viral markers should also be done.
Regarding bilirubin level, you can repeat it after three months. If it is persistently raised then you can take medicines like tablet Ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months. In persistent raised conditions,Gilbert's syndrome should be excluded.
It is good that other parameters of LFT are normal.
Mildly increased uric acid level can be managed by diet modification. You should avoid red meat and food containing high purine.
You should avoid alcohol if you take it.Take lot of fibres in your diet.
Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
Further queries are most welcome.
