What Does This CT Scan Report Indicate?
Question: A recent CAT scan i had showed that i have multiple 9mm lymph nodes in my lower abdomen. Could this be cancerous?
Brief Answer:
Not likely
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
These are still lymph nodes with size within normal values since abdominal lymph nodes may reach even1.5cm and still be normal. It depends in which area of abdomen are these enlarged nodes located, but generally,if you don't have other symptoms, such as weight loss, abdominal pain or night sweating, then you should not be concerned and serious issues are last thing to think of in you age. If there are some other symptoms then you should check white blood count.if this is abnormal then lymph node biopsy may be necessary, otherwise I think that only ct follow up in 6-12 months is required. Wish you good health. Regards

Brief Answer:
hi again
Detailed Answer:
Yes, this is probably mesenterial lymphadenitis in this case which is benign inflammation of lymph nodes and usually has self limiting course. It may also be sign of any other infection in body such as mononucleosis or hepatitis So if you start to have fever you should check your liver markers and do mononucleosis test. Soe more serious issues are rarity in your age. Try to drink plenty of fluids, take probitoics and rest. If I am right, it should subside within 1 week.
