What Does This CT Urogram Report Indicate?

Question: Hello. I have a report for a CT UROGRAM. One of the terms "Vascular" states: Ectatic calcific aorta and iliacs. 37 mm (AP) by 41 mm (transverse) aneurysm distal abdominal aorta. Is this serious? XXXXXXX XXXX

I read your question and i understand your concern. Your aorta in abdomen is dilated but aneurysm is not that significant in size to operate on, usually sizes more than 55 mm are worrisome and worth intervention, at this size, all you need is to do your best to avoid the triggers and risk factors. Dont smoke, dont drink lose weight, control your blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Have frequent follow ups at least 3 to 6 months to assess the size of the aneurysm and let your endovascular surgeon decide what is best for you. Ideally at age of 80 yrs, conservative method is preferable and recommended and with your sizes , more favourable.
