What Does This ECHO Report Indicate?

Question: Hello Doctor . My mom is 59 years old . She has been having Blood Pressure for the past 10 Years. She has been having Enam 2.5 mg. Few days back she had swelling in her feet and we got her checkup done. Her blood pressure is around 150/100 now. Still on a higher side. We went to a local doctor and he changed the medicines to Tazloc 40 and water pills and recommended few scans. Attaching along is the Chest Xray and ECO report. The doctor said the heart is enlarged and lungs are in a bad shape. I searched on google and found there is some fluid buildup in lungs. Please go through the reports and let me know our next step of action and what precautions should we take.

The changes in ECHO are not very significant – her ejection fraction (global function) is indeed good / The changes in the Chest X-ray are the consequence of from early left heart de-compensation from long standing blood pressure
I presume – there are no new changes in her ECG / and her kidney function (blood tests) and blood count?
Adjusting the dose of the water and pressure pills is all that is necessary now.

Hi

The problem is from left heart failure – fluid retention in the lungs causing breathing problem.
As already suggested, adjusting the dose of diuretic (water pill) and controlling the blood pressure will bring about improvement.
Salt restricted diet/ sleeping with head end up / small frequent feeds help
And in due course, Coronary Artery Disease (ischemia) has to be evaluated (Stress ECG and/or CT angiogram) for further assessment and assistance
The treating doctor could conclude, based on the total clinical picture

okk.. one last thing wanna ask.. is the left heart failure a serious condition? if we are able to control the BP , will there be improvement in the heart failure.. how bad is the present situation according to you..

Not bad - this is the first time and early stages
The condition will certainly improve / and improve very well – with treatment.
One needs to investigate curable/ treatable cause for the failure – like hidden infection / silent ischemia – to prevent further progression
If neglected, it may deteriorate and turn worse, limiting the quality of life and quantum of life expectancy
