What Does This MRI Finding For Pressure In Neck Indicate?
Question: If an MRI findings say relative ectasia of the thecal sac and nerve sleeves at S1-S2 and I have preasure in the
base of the neck, sciatica (mostly on the right side, Sometimes on the left). Could this or any of the other findings be the cause? It also says at L2-3 Moderate disc space narrowing, with moderate circumferential bulge of disc and osteophyte. No focal disc protrusion. Mild to moderate facet degeneration, with bony hypertrophy and ligamentous thickening. Mild to moderate stenosis of the spinal canal, narrowed by approximately 1/3, with narrowing of the lateral reccesses. Mild bilateral foraminal stenosis.
L3-4 Moderate disc space narrowing. Mild to moderate circumferential bulge of disc and osteophyte. No focal protrusion. Mild to moderate stenosis of the spinal canal, narrowed by approximately 1/3, with narrowing of the lateral recesses. No significant foraminal stenosis.
L4-5 S1 are fused.
L4-5 Disc space is markedly narrowed. There is minimal circumferential bulge of vertebral endplate osteophyte. No focal protrusion. Facet joints are fused. No canal or foraminal stenosis.
L5- S1 are good.

Brief Answer:
can be caused by ectasia of thecal sac .
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query
I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Your sciatica may be caused by ectasia of thecal sac at S1,S2. Sciatica can also be caused by other findings such as L2L3 and L3,L4 moderate disc prolapse . It can be determined by clinical examination which part of area supplied by particular nerve root is effected.
The scans are of lumbosacral spine. None of those are the cause of pain at the base of neck.
Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Sorry what are the treatment options?
Brief Answer:
Initial treatment of it is physiotherapy, glucosamine ,and Mecobalamine .
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
Initial treatment of it( degenerative disc disease with compressive symptoms) is physiotherapy, Glucosamine and Mecobalamine. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is helpful in pain relief. Sometimes operative treatment is needed which is decompression surgery requiring removal of compression of thecal sac enclosing spinal cord.
You can discuss with your doctor about it.
Everything else already discussed.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
