What Does This MRI Report Indicate?
Question: In 2014 I had symptoms of stroke with left sised weakness, speech problems and confusion. Within 24 hrs i had mri which showed no masses or ischemic changes, but did show nonspecific punctate areas of Flair and T2 signal abnormality of subcortical white matter. I was 52 at that time. Did i have a stroke?

If symptoms you describe subsided within 24 hours you probably had a TIA, (transient ischemic attack).
However, those MRI findings don't support neither stroke or TIA.
MRI ( diffusion weighted images ) could be diagnostic for TIA up to five days after it happened.
Nonspecific punctate areas on MRI are mainly related to changes due to uncontrolled blood pressure.

It's been over 2 years and still use cane or walker due to left leg weakness. My left knee won't hold me up without support. I still have some stuttering. My cardiologist said that the stress I had been under and high blood pressure probably caused blood supply to be constricted and caused the stroke.

If doubts raised about any lumbosacral spine disorder such herniated disc disease, spondylosis, x-rays and MRI of lumbosacral spine are necessary as well.
