What Does This MRI Report Indicate?

We consulted a well known Orthopaedician in XXXXXXX for my mom's chronic pain in legs. He suggested to have a MRI scan done and attached is the report. Based on the MRI report, he suggested her to undergo physiotherapy for 10 days.
Can you please review the MRI report and provide a second opinion?
Physiotherapy will help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen all the attached reports. There is a mild disc bulge at L5-S1 level due to age related degenerative changes in the spine. This is causing a mild nerve root compression causing pain in both the legs.
Medicines are the first line treatment along with physiotherapy. If the patient responds well with medicines then physiotherapy helps in preventing further progression of the problem.
The main treatment of such problem is bed rest along with pain killers and muscle relaxants. Muscle relaxants can help with her symptoms if used in appropriate dosage in combination with a potent analgesic. You can get these prescribed from her orthopedician.
Local analgesic gels and hot fomentation may provide a short term relief. She can use analgesic gels like Volini gel. Exercise is not advisable in the times of acute pain.
Using an LS contour belt of appropriate size might be helpful in providing support to back muscles.
Physiotherapy also plays a major role in treating such conditions. Do start with regular physiotherapy and continue with calcium supplements.
I hope this answers your query.
