What Does This MRI Result Indicate?
MRI suggests degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
MRI findings suggests degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine. These are generally age related findings.
There is desiccation of itervertebral disc (loss of water from disc) in lumbar spine at multiple level. There is also mildly decreased inter vertebral disc space at L2-3 and L3-4 level.
There is also diffuse mild to moderate facet(bony joints in between two vertebra) arthrosis(age related osteoarthritis) at multiple levels.
At L2-3 level, besides mild facet arthrosis there is prominence of ligamentum flavum.
At L3-4 level, besides moderate facet arthrosis there is broad disc herniation which is causing moderate narrowing of lateral neural foramen in left and mild narrowing in right side with mild central canal stenosis.
At L4-5 level, besides moderate facet arthrosis and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy there is shallow disc herniation without central canal stenosis.
At L5-S1 level there is only facet arthrosis.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy and analgesics.Since you have mild findings,so you should try physiotherapy first.
Surgery should be last option.
Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.
