What Does This TIFFA Scan Report Indicate?
I am 18 weeks pregnant now. I had my TIFFA scan done today, i have few queries regarding the scan results
1. Placenta position is posterior upper segment, Grade 1 Maturity. Is there any problem if placenta is posterior and what does this Grade 1 Maturity mean?
2. And fetus is Breech presentation, will this be a problem?
3.And here are the Biometry
BPD : 41mm 18-19 weeks
HC : 161mm 18-19 weeks
AC : 139mm 19-20 weeks
FL : 29mm 18-19 weeks
Are the measurements fine for the fetal age?
4. Cervix 3.5cms.Internal OS closed, is the cervix length normal? Due date given is 21/6/2016
5. Fetal GIT : Stomach bubble visualized, rest of bowel unremarkable. What does this exactly mean?
Normal TIFFA result
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
I will answer your questions as you asked:
1.Posterior placenta means that the placenta is located on the posterior wall of the uterus, and it is completely normal.
The placenta matures as the pregnancy advances, and this is classified into grades. Grade1 is the placental maturity in second trimester.
2.Fetus at 18 weeks is quite XXXXXXX and it changes it position several times a day.
Breech presentation means that buttocks of the fetus are in lower uterus at the time of ultrasound, it is normal.
3. The fetal parameters are normal and corresponding to gestation age.
4.Cervical length is normal.
5. Stomach bubble normal means that there is no anomaly in the food pipe, stomach and rest of the bowel. It is a good indication that fetus has no anomaly in the gastrointestinal tract.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
