A 8-12 core biopsy of prostate gland is mandatory.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand your concern.
With a PSA of 22,one does need to rule out a cancerous prostate gland.
A prostate gland biopsy, is the only confirmatory test to establish that.
The biopsy is done, by taking a minimum of 8-12 cores of prostate gland tissue.
In your father's biopsy report, only 3 cores of tissue have been taken.
All Urologists routinely follow the international biopsy protocol.
It becomes difficult to comment,on an improperly done biopsy.
The report of PIN 2 in the report, needs follow-up, if adequate tissue is sampled.
He's therefore advised to get a proper biopsy done, by an Urologist.
He can also get an isotope bone scan done,to know if bone's affected.
You may send the reports here, for an expert opinion.
Till a proper biopsy is done, do not proceed with prostate gland operation.
Wishing your father a speedy recovery.

Thsnk you for your response.
What the urologist have sugested is to do a Scan Assisted Biopsy after a period of 4 to 6 weeks. This waiting period isfor the current wounds to heal.
My question is that is it normal to wait for 4 to 6 weeks after one biopsy and will it have any effect on the health, as in chance of
spreading incase its canceroud, which has not been confirmed yet
.
Kindly give your views
Thanks
XXXX
Biopsy doesn't cause spread of tumor.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
The biopsy as such, doesn't cause spread of tumor( if present ).
As your father is diabetic and hypertensive,it's advisable to wait for 4-6 weeks.
Ensure the biopsy is done by an experienced Urologist, with 12 core sections.
A rectal scan guided biopsy, will increase the accuracy.
It's best done at a center, with an experienced Urologist.
In the mean time, a bone scan may be considered.
Wish him well.
