Question: Hi,
My 5 year old daughter had her DPT vaccination on Oct 1st afterwhich she had fever the next as predicted and it was normal however we got worried when the fever (100.1 -103) continued until today(Oct 7) I have attached her report for the blood test done on Oct 6. Could you please help assess the report and let me know if we need more test to be done? Dengue for instance. We have been given her Crocin throughout and after the test was done yesterday we added Cetizine as well but it doesn't look like it is helping with the fever at all. Please suggest. Thank you so much

Brief Answer:
You need not worry.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. I have gone through the reports and they do not seem concerning to me. I do not think that you need to go for any further test provided that your child remains otherwise playful and active. The fever should subside in a couple of days. You need to be patient. Continue to give Crocin and Cetrizine. If Crocin (paracetamol) is not effective in bringing down the temperature, you need to use Meftal-P (mefenamic acid) which is more effective [prescription medicine].The minimum gap between two doses of Crocin is 4-6 hours. The doses of Crocin and Meftal P are independent of each other. Minimum gap between doses of Meftal P is 6-8 hours. However, I do not think that they would be needed to be used simultaneously. Also use tepid sponging.

You need to be patient. In case of a viral infection the fever may last for 5-7 days and then would resolve on its own.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
