Hi,
Thank you for getting back with me. I had a history of recurrent kidney infections starting at the age of 3 until 12.--I was hospitalized each time. At 14 years of age I was diagnosed with shingles on my back. At 16 years of age I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and had my gallbladder removed. I've always stayed active and health contientuous. When I was 18, I had a diagnosis of psoriasis on my scalp. Throughout college and graduate school, I wouldnhave breakouts, but never went to the Dr for it. They would last a few months and disappear. I stayed active and healthy until this January I started feeling really fatigued and my body felt a little achy--like I was coming down with a cold. I shrugged it off as being a mom to a 1 and 3 year old. In March, the achineas started to become more intense--stiff neck, spine, upper and lowe back, shoulders, hips, ankles, rib cage. I had horrible bruises everywhere, intense headaches with low grade feever of 100-101 degrees and extremely fatigued. Again, I thought I must have the flu, but it never went away. I finally went to the Dr in May (primary care provider). She did an extensive blood test on me. Results came back with a slightly positive ANA test of 160 and my iron and thyroid were a little low. Dr increased my thyroid medicine (taking it for 6 years, long history of thyroid disease in my family-maternal side) and referred me to a rheumotologist. I just saw him last week, but all the pain Ive been having has intensified tremendously--severe fatigue, sore, stiff neck, spine, upper and lower back, shoulders, rib cage, hips, ankels, big toe on L and R, and now my fingers. Also, my cuticles will occasionally get infected--I soke them with epsom salt immediately when they get painful. The first time it happened, I was prescribed an antibiotic--so painful! I break out with rash over my nose and cheeks in the afternoon and then it will go away. My skin (especially on my shoulder blades) feels like its sunburnt and its not. I can upload a picture of the rash.
I'm baffled because I don't know what it could be and Idid see my blood work come back pretty normal--slighly low C4 and C3 was on the lower end of normal. A slow sediment range and slightly high MCV.

Good evening
Sorry for the delayed reply. I was out of country for a conference. Really sorry for the hold up....
I have gone through your history and blood reports. You did seem to have had a tough course throughout.
1. Repeat kidney infections in childhood may have been due to Reflux, which is a rare complication in kids and gets better with age...
2. As for your psoriasis, we need to see if it is linked to your swelling over the digits( fingers). At times, a psoriatic plaque can get infected or it can be arthritis linked to psoriasis as well. So during the next episode, I would suggest you get an ultrasound of the hand done to see if the swelling is from the joint or surrounding sin
3. As for ANA positive, it can be there in hypothyroid patients as well.As thyroid i also an autoimmune problem. As your rest of the blood work after ANA are negative, the possibility of SLE is less likely.
But considering your other symptoms, I would like to ask you a few more details
1. Do you experience dry eyes or dry mouth
2. DO you get proper sleep in the nights??
3. ANy recent changes in modds or increased irritability and forgetfulness??
4. DO you wake up fresh in the mornings or is it more of fatigue?
Do let me know these queries and would guide you further
Regards

Thank you for the reply.
1. I have experienced some dry eye. I do wear contacts. Yesterday, out of the blue, aroun 11:00 am it seemed as though I had a smudge on my lens. I took it out and washed the contact with saline; however, even with my contact out, my surroundings seemed darker--just in the left eye. I temporarily lost vision in my left eye. I called the opthimologist right away. He told me that I was experiencing a migrane in my eye. He also told me from the eye exams, that he could see some dry eye in the frontal part of my eye. The Dr gave me prescription eye drops for it.
2. I do get proper sleep at night, unless my hip and back pain are severe and will keep me up.
3. Yes, I feel irritable quite frequently. I hate it! Ive always enjoyed life with a genuine joyful, laid back attitude. I can't stand feeling so aggitated!
4. I no longer wake up fresh. I definitely was a morning person, but now I just ache in the morning and feel so stiff and sore all over. It takes a good hour to feel like I can bend and move adequately. So sad. I start to feel fatigued, like I can't move, around 2:00 pm--I have a 2 and 3 year old, so rest is not an option. This makes it so much worse. I've been a runner for 16 years (I had to stop when I was on bedrest with my youngest). I never would have thought of having something like this--especially at my age now! Yes, my mind feels foggy and like I'm unable to comcentrate.
Lastly, I have read some reviews on digestacure. Would you recommend this?
Thanks so much!

Brief Answer:
CTD vs Fibromyalgia
Detailed Answer:
Good evening
Well, as per your history and blood test the only possibility I find is, it could be Sjogrens syndrome. With Strong ANA positive, fatigue and dry eyes it is a high suspicion of it although ENA profile is negative. But with Sjogrens, we decide treatment on the number of organs involved, and so far yours has been mostly ok. So, I would suggest Hydroxychloroquine as a good option to keep the disease in check...
But the other symptoms you have been having of memory fog, early morning fatigue, irritability it could be Fibromyalgia. You can read only about it and see if your symptoms match. IF it does match your diagnosis, I can guide you further with it...
Digestacure you can try. I have heard about it but dont have personal experience using it....
I hope the information was useful
