What Does This Follicular Study After IUI Treatment Indicate?

Question: Hello,
I am a 32 year old female undergoing IUI. This our third attempt. Our first attempt I didnt ovulate until day 28 of a 42 day cycle, then our second attempt I ovulated on day 15 with an follice just above 18mm. On our third attempt yesterday, my follice was slighter smaller than desired at 17.2mm but the fertility clinic went ahead with IUI anyway.
Do I still have a good chance of conception?
Also would you recommend that now we have tried 3 times, that we continue with IUI for another 3 attempts? Should we ask that i go on hormones to help in ensure my egg reaches full maturity?
And at what point should we move to IVF?

Brief Answer:
IVF
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply
1. Your follicle is good sized now. You stand good chance by it in this IUI cycle.
2. If you dont conceive in this cycle it is advisable to ho for IVF as you are 32 years age.
3. If you are not ready for IVF yet you can opt for 3 more cycles of IUI.
4 . Hope your fallopian tubes are evaluated by HSG or laparoscopy.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello, thank you for your response.
Are you able to clarify your number 2 response - do you think we should go to IVF if we aren't successful in this round?
Do you feel that having hormone injections and then doing another 3 IUI cycles is best before going to IVF or that IVF would be the best way to conceive faster - given fertilised eggs are used?
In the IVF process, how many fertilised eggs are generally used in one cycle - and are these "implanted" or does implantation need to occur naturally?
We find ourselves in the position where we had a particular timeframe for getting pregnant and its taking longer than expected - does continuing with IUI or upgrading to IVF provide us with a greater chance to conceive sooner.
Both my partner and I have had medical checks and all is ok from an anatomical perspective and with his semen analysis. We commenced IUI to reduce the stress associated with sex in conceiving due to the PTSD symptoms triggered by a physical and sexual assault that resulted in life threatening injuries in October 2012.

Hi
If you dont conceive this cycle it is better to go for IVF. IVF has better pregnancy rates and best modality.
Doing repeated IUI is not recommended and is not going to increase chance of pregnancy.
Going directly to IVF next step is better.
