What Does This Iron Blood Test Report Indicate?
Question: I was dx with Hashimotos. My iron levels are within range but on the low side. Could show a possible problem? What should I be looking for? I am currently taking 28 mg of Iron. Should I be taking a different type of iron? My labs are:
TIBC 291 (range 250-400)
Ferritin 56 (10-291)
Iron 81 (50-170)
Iron Sat 28 (20-70%)

Noted your concern. Your iron levels are quite in normal range itself. TIBC is normal suggestive of normal iron level of iron storage in the body. The iron which you take is sufficient enough. As long as your hemoglobin is normal, not to worry.
Some people with hashimotos could have associated celiac disease which can cause iron deficiency. However, looking at your iron levels, there is notjing to worry.
