What Does This Lab Report For Rashes On The Leg Indicate?
Question: Dear doctor,
My daughter is diagonised with Relative lymphocytosis. She has lymphocytes as 65% and neutrophils as 30% and monocytes as 2. She got rashes in her leg and she feels pain in the leg after playing. The test report shows that in abnormal morphology that 6% are reactive lymphocytes. Platelet count is 2.90 Lakhs, WBC count is 6900. She also gets abdominal pain and is not having ulcer too. Please let me know if I should be alerted for Leaukimia.

Brief Answer:
Likely viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
I understand your concerns. This appears like a viral infection to me. Rashes, relative lymphocytosis with reactive lymphocytosis most commonly occur due to viral infections. And atypical or reactive lymphocytes are not leukemic cells. Leukemic cells are known as blasts. Hemoglobin and platelets are normal so that is also reassuring.
Likely the counts will return to normal in few weeks time. Overall, there is little concern of anything serious.
Hope this helps.
Regards

Dear sir, thanks for the response. Kindly let me know whether
A) I need to check this test again after few weeks.
B) If the rashes didn't disappear should I be concerned at that point and make any further tests.
She is very precious to me and hence I could not a take a bit of a chance. Kindly clarify.

Brief Answer:
yes repeat in 2-3 weeks
Detailed Answer:
If rashes persist or new symptoms like fever appear then further testing will be required.
All children are precious to their parents but don't worry, at this point possibility of leukemia is very low.
