Question: Hello Doctor
Ive communicated with you earlier through this forum for my father. Ive attached the latest liver bioposy report also in the portal.
Current Medication : We have completed the radiation - 22 fractions yesterday. Chemo started from last week with Sorafenib - 400 Mg alternate day.
My Query :
1.Want to take your opinion if we are on the right track on the treatment is concerned.
2. Radiation completed - do we need to undergo any specific test to know the current status/improvements refering the tumor growth
3. Doctor says since its metastatic and primary is in Liver, it has already reached stage IV but i not mentioned any where in the medical reports.
4. Whats the survival rate with the current condition?

Brief Answer:
Hello. Treatment is fine
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. In my opinion treatment is fine. Radiation has been completed and there is no need to check for its adequacy. He will require anti epileptic drugs for additive effects to prevent seizures.
Metastatic disease means that the tumor has left its primary site and has reached to some other distant site(in your case it is in brain). So it is a stage 4 disease.
Sorafenib after initial week should be increased to daily dose.
Survival rate on an average will be around 8 to 10 months. However some patients may survive for prolong periods, some upto 2 years or so.
Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. It may be due to side effects of sorafenib
Detailed Answer:
Sorafenib may cause sometimes mucositis and mouth ulcers which is the cause of difficulty in swallowing solids. Normally mouth ulcers heal on their own. However if problem increases, consult doctor.
There is little chance if any of recovery if left eye. Right eye will not be affected.
Sorafenib has to be continued lifelong.
Thanks and regards
