What Does This Negative Rapid HIV Test Result Indicate?
I am back again , first of all , sorry for asking too much questions , today my concern is about the rapid hiv test i did ( that I had mentioned in my very 1st question) i have been noticing lately that that kit is not approved here in Canada , and some countries in Europe says that it does not bear the CE mark, however, i found that is is USAID approved it is not approved by FDA , here is its website (http://jalinnovation.com/ ) and here is the USAID approval ( http://www.usaid.gov/sites/default/files/documents/1864/usaid_approved_test_kit_list.pdf) and I do not think it is fake untrusted product as it is purchased by people all over the world . so I am kinda worried , i know you can tell me then go to the lab to remove this worry but to be honest with you, I can not stand going to a clinic and wait for 3 hrs to get tested and then wait a whole week to get the result that waiting week could kill me , and i know you as a specialist in a high populated country as XXXXXXX have high experience may be you have seen that Icare hiv kit in your field or dealt with it or heard anything about it,
Also my 2nd concern is as i told you before that my wife tested negative by Duo hiv test on the 84th day of our first intercourse as mentioned in the previous inquiries and you reassured me that if i am positive she will get the virus from me certainly but what about what they called discordant couples and what are the factors that lead to it? does it apply on my case?
I will not be shy and ask this question is their possibility that if I am hiv infected the virus does not transfer to her with the huge amount of sperms during the sexual intercourse?
honestly do I really have to worried even if it is one percent worry? or really I am fine and okay and not to thing about this issue anymore?
thanks alot
Both of you are totally healthy and negative so there is no point of worry.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Young fellow,
Welcome back and thanks a lot for your follow up. I can very well understand the concern for HIV. I can also make out that you are still quite worried about the various issues of HIV testing related things.
As for the part of HIV infection : I have already given you all the valid reasons that there is no chance of positive infection. The testing can not be consecutively negative in case if there had been any infection inside.
The test which you have done basically determines the antibodies. In most of the longest detected cases of HIV, the maximum period taken to get antibodies was around 6 months. So in your case it is around more than one and half years since you are getting tested. So it can not possible by any means to get seronegative status even after this period.
Regarding the test kits: Most of the kits are very well handled and prepared with utmost care that there should not be any chance of incorrect status. Though your kit is not used in XXXXXXX but even then I can reassure you for the accuracy of kit on the basis of its manufacturer guidelines as well as USAIDS approval.
In serodiscordant couples: One of the partner should be positive in these couples. If you or your wife have had positive status then we would have considered you in this category. As both of you are totally healthy and negative so there is no point of worrying for this issue.
Live a healthy life and do not give any second thoughts to any possibility of HIV. My all best wishes for your healthy life.
I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to answer any further of your queries.

Here in spite of it is a developed country in my city we have 1 or 2 clinics only to do such tests so you stay long waiting to get tested and you have to return after a week , i did went to to the clinic before and i waited for 2 hours and could not get in so I left.
And regarding manufacturing of such hiv home kits, i do not think it is a big deal or hard to manufacture them , it is the same idea as pregnancy or drug tests , you know that there is no single home test approved in Canada , in my opinion approving them will decrease hiv as lots of people do not like going to clinics , it is weird
and also because the very 1st test that showed a faint line worried me as well as what i have seen many drs in many forums saying in this case a confirmatory test in a lab is to be done and not by doing another rapid test which i did not do , i confirmed it by another rapid home tests, that are things when it comes to my mind it makes me think again and ask my self what if the very 1st test that shows the faint line is right and the rest are wrong , no one explain this interaction of RBCS as you explained so from time to time thoughts come again and panic starts , you get my point?
Your test kit is USAIDS approved.
Detailed Answer:
Dear young buddy,
Welcome back and thanks for your swift follow up.
I very well understand all the big and small issues related to the test kits. Every of the country has its own policy specificalky regarding HIV testing. Like in XXXXXXX we send the patients for testing and within few hours a basic test result can be obtained. If there is sny vonfudion then we go gor further highrr tests. People in other of the countries like United States have got their own policy for testing and accordingly to ease the pressure on health care personnel home based kits are provided and approved.
You are correct that authorities do accept certain kits and do not fir few others. The best of the part in your case is that it's approved by USAIDS which is itself a very credible authority to give approval.
To add on it, HIV TESTING is never as simple as a pregnancy test. A lot of credibility is given for these test kits. On the basis of my own clinical and academic knowledge I reassure you that it is not fake as it is USAIDS approved.
I hope this information will calm down your mind.

Faint line of test is null and void without significance.
Detailed Answer:
Dear young fellow,
I completely understand your part of worry for the faint line which appeared in previous test. As per my experience I guided you before also that faint line is of no significance.
Faint line is actually a artifact material with blood or RBCs or the chemical material which gets deposited near the test area.
We consider a bold line to be positive. In a positive test there is always a bold line in the kit for both tests as well control. If any of the kit is showing faint line then that test is considered null and void without significance.
If still you are worried then the only part of relieving your anxiety is by ELISA at a laboratory near you. In my opinion it will come negative and will dissolve all the issues.
Do not give any second thoughts to the repeated negative things coming in your mind. I understand that it is human tendency to sometimes think negative. But we have a logical part to understand and apprehend everything. So just relax and do not worry.
My all best wishes for your healthy life.
