Brief Answer:
indexes compared to normal values and advises given

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking at healthcaremagic.

I carefully read your report and would like to inform that there are three main important factors when reading a semenalysis:

1. total number of spermatozoids (which should ideally be around 40 million for ml),
2. the motility of the spermatozoids (which should be at least 32%) and
3. the morphology of the spermatozoids (which should be at least more than 4% of them normal).

In the report you have uploaded it is noticed that you have normal morphology of the sperm cells in a good percentage but the percent of motile sperm cells and the total number of sperm cells per ml is a bit reduced.

On the other hand one semenalysis is not enough and should not lead to conclusions.
You will need to repeat it in a month or two to make sure the results are stable or just one finding at a time.

There are some conditions that might affect sperm count and should be avoided:
- avoid tight pants
- avoid hot long baths as heat at the scrotal area prevents development of sperm cells.
- if you have swollen testicles (extra water, hydrocele) or lesions you palpate, especially a "bag of worms" feeling in your testicle that is veins that swell there, you will need to have a visit with a specialist and have them treated as soon as possible to preserve fertility.
- if you have an active infection with urinary symptoms or secretions from the urethra than this might affect the sperm count and you will need proper attention to have it treated (will take a few weeks to come to normal values after that)
- if you take steroids for body building, this might prevent your body from producing testosterone and might bring atrophy of testicles with reduced sperm count.

Meanwhile if you are doing all the above correctly (or if not, you correct those behaviors), you can take some supplements that is believed to boost the sperm count like antioxidants with zinc, vitamin E or L-carnitine for a while and repeat the sperm test in a month or two.

Even if the second time the sperm count is not optimal, still the chances of pregnancy might not be "0" and you will need to continue to get medical attention and advice related to this.

I hope this is helpful and answers to your questions but please feel free to reply in case anymore clarification is needed on this.

Kind regards,

Antoneta Zotaj, MD
