Question: hi I have done a throat swab, results are shown as
Microscopic - Occasional pus cells, 1-4 epithelial cells, many Gram Positive cocci in pairs, short chains and clusters were seen
culture : Alpha haemolytic Streptococcus Viridans group grown in culture
please advice..

Thanks you for the response, The only symptom is cough, am coughing mildly...not sever, however the cough did not reduce after Viral fever 20 days ago , that's when my general physician advised me to just take an opinion from Pulmonologist - there is no chest congestion, no fever no other symptoms except cough, Pulmonologist suspected a bacterial infection however recommended me to do the throat swab culture, today I got the report and just wanted to know your opinion. please advice

In view of the history of cough, I would suggest initiation of antibiotics.
The culture has grown a bacteria and this needs to be treated with antibiotics.
Culture reports usually give us the sensitivity pattern also.
You can meet the pulmonologist with the report for the prescription for antibiotics.
If you upload the report, I might be able to suggest the antibiotic but you will still need to take a prescription from the local doctors.
