Question: I had undergone health test on 16 A
pril 2016, and my TSH result was 10.19 against XXXXXXX range of 0.34 to 5.6. I had then shown myself to Specialist, who has suggested me to get the test done again. I again then undergone TSH, T3 & T4 on 14th may 2016 and results are as under TSH 7.43, T3 82.2, T4 1.19. What do you suggest, should I start taking thyroid medicine or is there any other treatment to be taken? Pl advise. Thanks. XXXX

Brief Answer:
Thyroid medications need to be started

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
TSH levels above 5.0 should be treated by thyroid medications, starting from the lowest dose of 12.5 mcg of levothyroxine.
You can repeat the TSH levels after 6 weeks to see whether the thyroid hormone levels are normalized, or dose needs to be increased.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
