Brief Answer:
possible associated with inflammation

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bilirubin is produced mainly by the breakdown of hemoglobin, a small percentage is produced by the breakdown of other proteins in the body.

Its levels are increased if there is an increase in breakdown or if there is a blockage preventing excretion or loss of bilirubin from the body.

Ankylosing spondylitis is not known to have a significant effect on the liver though there have been some reports of mild inflammation of the liver which may be the cause of the slight increase in bilirubin levels.

The increase in bilirubin is mild and at the moment not of clinical significance. Your doctor may opt to monitor for any changes.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
