Question: My daughter is 23 yrs old. She is tested 1:80 for Typhi O and 1:80 for Typhi H. Paratyphoid A,H and B,H are non reactive. Her Blood CRP is 106. Pus cells in her Urine microbiology is reported 10-12 WBC/HPF.
She is having fever since last 5 days and it is between 100 to 102+. We are giving her Orflox 200, Cefixime tablet 200 mg, Rifagut tablet 200 and Bifilac since past two days as prescribed by the doctor.
We are administering Paracetamol 650 mg when the fever exceeds 101 deg F.
Can you please suggest if any major health risk is involved, how much time it could take to be alright.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
it is likely to be urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.

The test result show that titres for Salmonella typhi which is the causative agent for typhoid fever are low. The titres should be more than 1:160 thus you are not suffering from typhoid fever.

Based on the urine investigation report, she has urinary tract infection. It is usually associated with fever which may usually last for 4 to 5 days. She should respond to the empirical treatment given by consulting doctor. Along with it I would suggest her to drink plenty of water and also drink cranberry juice which will be helpful in UTI.
I would like to know the reason for prescribing rifagut medication, it is usually prescribed for traveller's diarrhea.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you. Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.

Take care.

Hi
Thanks for the answers that help me understand the issue better.
I am told by our Doctor who is currently seeing my daughter diagnose this as a mild Typhoid infection for which he has prescribed Oflox 200 mg.
Just help me know if it is on right track.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Regards.
