What Does This Ultrasonography Report Indicate?
my wife had ultrasonography on 22 Oct 2014. the report says as below -
Cardiac activity present, HR- 156BPM, Liquor- AFI 6.8 Moderate hydramnios, Placenta - Anterior Grade 3 Maturity, Cervical length - 3.6cms, Lie- Oblique, Presentation - breech, Internal OS closed, fetal weight - 2586, EDD by USG- 12/11/2014
Impression - Single live intrauterine pregnancy with gest. age 37 w 0 d with breech presentation & moderate oligohydramnios,
Advised: Clinical correlation SOS further evaluation
Now my question is for moderate oligohydramnios, is placenta & fetal biometry ok? the AFI is 6.8, is it possible to recover required level? presentation is breech - is it possible that fetal can change its presentation? some care to be taken? doctor asked to take drink water & to take bed rest ?
but second trimester ultrasound dated 21/07/2014 showing FMH history - parity (pregnancies after 23 weeks) : parous, Diabetes mellitus: no. fetal anatomy with everything normal report.
now, as per latest report any fetal disorder possible? what precaution to be take??
thanks,
Its not a problem .
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.
All the parameters of your wife report are very normal:
-Placenta -its position is normal, not previa, maturity is normal without problems in her pregnancy age .
-Fetal Biometry is appropriate for pregnancy age
-Moderate oligohydramnios isn't so problematic in this age of her pregnancy because with the increasing age of pregnancy amniotic fluid can slowly reduce.
It have no meaning if the fetal biometry is normal.
-Breech presentation -there are few chances that your baby can change it because he /she is very big .
There aren't any measures that you can take because everything is normal.
Only you should consult with her obstetrician for the method of birth because its baby breech presentation(secio cesarea or vaginal birth)

Breech position isn't favorable for vaginal birth
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Breech presentation is when the buttocks or legs are the first part that are presented in the female pelvis.
Hence this position isn't so favorable for vaginal birth.
In USA most breech presentation make delivery with Cesarean section.
There are two main reasons that more obstetrician choose the second method because, vaginal birth have many complications and the obstetrician aren't prepared for vaginal birth.
Grade three of maturity of palcenta doesn't have problem as per vaginal birth or Cesarean section.

Report me the first ultrasound examination
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Excuse for being late .
More accurate is ultrasound examination because your wife may have irregular periods ,hence she cant remember exactly her last menstrual periods.
But please give me a report of her first ultrasound examination to calculate with more accuracy her gestational age .

Accurate pregnancy age is from the first examinati
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
As per the first ultrasound examination pregnancy age was the same as per last menstrual periods(LMP).
The correct pregnancy age is form the first ultrasound examination.
Whereas in the last ultrasound examination baby is 2 weeks bigger than the estimated age of the pregnancy by LMP.
There are three reasons that can cause this issue :
1.your baby is LGA (large for gestational age),this happen when the mother have gestational diabetes ,hence she should do blood glucose to rule out it
2.ultrasound examiner will be wrong during examination( this happen half the time )
3.Genetics plays a role in having a baby born with LGA.
Hence consult with her obstetrician to find the reason that pregnancy age is two weeks bigger than the calculated gestational age from LMP.
All the best
