default
Posted on Fri, 26 Jun 2015
Question: Last week I had an ultrasound as a followup to the kidneystone found and passed out in XXXXXXX 2015 , during that time had a cat scan and doc. said have tiny little stones in both kidneys and 5mm stone out of kidney which was passed after taking flomax for a week.
Now (June 2015 , last week) : had and ultrasound to check if any stones still left as suggested by primary care physician, And found that "No indication of stones in both kidneys", But second observation from ultrasound is -> "The Prostate measures 23cc with a postvoid residual or 23cc". According to it , is it normal size or enlarged for my age , btw I am 34 years old now. worried with this result, Please advise.

Brief Answer:
prostate gland size and residual urine volume are normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM. it's good that your ultrasound shows both the kidneys are free of stones. Prostate gland of 23cc size with residual urine of 23 cc is nothing to worry about.

Normal size of prostate gland is about 20 cc. So your prostate gland size is normal at your age. Postvoid residual means urine seen on the scan, after person feels, he/she has passed urine completely. Residual urine of 23 cc is not significant. Moreover you have no symptoms of passing urine with difficulty. So just relax.
