What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?
I am wondering if you could explain to me why there is such a discrepancy on my wife 26w ultrasound between BPD (67mm) and HC (245mm)
I can also send through the 26w ultrasound result
BPD is diameter of head and HC is head circumference and both are 26 weeks
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. The BPD is biparietal diameter and is a technical parameter involving the diameter of the head. The BPD of 67 cm corresponds to a pregnancy age of approximately 26 weeks
2. The HC is head circumference of the baby in the scan. The HC of 245 cm corresponds to a pregnancy age of 26 weeks.
3. Therefore the BPD and HC measurements match and show that the pregnancy is 26 weeks approximately. This pregnancy is normal for age if expected pregnancy age by weeks from last menstrual periods is approximately 26 weeks.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
