I wont be seeing my Dr until next week so this is making me very anxious, nervous, and scared out of my mind.
I have a CT scan scheduled for Monday afternoon. And I guess Ill know more. Anyone you can enlighten me would be greatly appreciated. I am very nervous. I went for the ultrasound because of severe abdominal pain that lasted about 2 days. I went to the ER and they provided blood tests. The blood tests showed very high liver enzymes. The AST was over 400 and the ALT was over 900. The pain did completely subside and I am feeling much better now. I just wanted more clarification on the Ultrasound results. Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1. Heterogeneous echo-texture of liver with increased periportal echoes . This finding may be related with
- liver inflamation/abces /pancreatitis
- tumoral issues of pancreas or liver.
Both causes mentioned above may explain your abdominal pain, elevated liver enzymes and ultarsound findings.
Otherwise I need to know more about the echogenecity of pancreas, lipasemia and bilirubin level ??
2. Your AST and ALT level are too high it means that you have an acute liver damage.
3. This is why it is really important to perform Ct scan with IV contrast. It will help to get a more accurate opinion and the proper diagnosis.
4. Apart CT scan you should do :
- HbsAg
- ANT -HCV
- test serology for cytomegalovirus /EBV.
Hope it was helpful to you!
