Mild dilatation of renal pelvis can be physiological variation
Detailed Answer:
hi,
mild dilatation of pelvic calycial system is a radiological finding.
it suggests that the draining passage of the kidney is enlarged In size. If it is moderate or severe dilatation then it can be due to obstruction to urine passage like by kidney stones or any disease affecting the lower end of ureter or bladder .
to confirm any obstructive pathology you can do a dtpa diuretic scan under guidance of your doctor.
in case of mild dilatation you don't need to worry. it can just be physiological variation in appearance of the kidney. if you do not have history of urinary infections or abdominal pain or blood in urine, there if very less chance of a significant illness. we can do urine routine and kidney function test to confirm.

General anasthesia is not compulsory in stone operation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
kidney stones treatment depends on size and location of stones which is to be confirmed by a CT scan before going for operation / treatment. stones less than 5 mm generally come out by themselves and do not need any operation.
in larger stones. patient can go for lithotripsy which can be done without anasthesia or for URS/RIRS operations which may require spinal or general anasthesia. this decision is made by the anaesthetist on basis of size location of stones .
in your case the ultrasound does not show any stones. so don't worry.
