What Does This Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

Posted on Tue, 7 Jun 2016
Question: On recent U/S examination, the radiologist commented on a bulky pancreas, including the tail. He did not comment on any cysts being present. I am a nondrinker/smoker, though have been on antibiotics and steroids recently for respiratory problems. My question is whether the U/S findings justify further imaging, lab studies or EUS/ERCP?

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

If there is clinical suspicion of pancreatitis (edematous/acute or chronic ) then CT scan should be advised. If there is obstructive jaundice due to biliary tract pathology then ERCP can be both diagnostic and therapeutic. If your doctor has advised you these investigations then you should go ahead and do them.
