Brief Answer:
No definite criteria

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.

The titres are not high in the Widal test report mentioned. It is considered positive with titres 1:160 and above (for eg. 1:320). Typhoid can be treated with certain oral antibiotics as well as with intravenous antibiotics. Whether intravenous antibiotics are required depends on clinical assessment and the treating physician's clinical judgement and is not investigation based. So you would have to discuss with your doctor about what he thinks best.

There is no restriction in the fruits that can be given. You can easily give seasonal fruits like oranges, lemons, apples, papaya etc.

Brief Answer:
More details required

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. To be able to tell whether she needs intravenous antibiotics, I would need the following information:
1. Duration of fever.
2. How high is the temperature and whether it is continuous. Fever free duration if any.
3. What treatment has been given till date.
4. Associated symptoms.

If she is having fever free periods, I think oral antibiotics like ofloxacin can be given singly or in combination with some antibiotic like cefixime. In any case if she has received even a single dose of some antibiotic, I strongly insist that you continue the same medicine.

Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
Medicines are proper

Detailed Answer:
Glad that you wrote back.

For a 2 day fever, Widal test was not required anyway. In any case when it has been done and borderline elevation has been found, ofloxacin is the right medicine to be given especially when there is one fever free duration already. Continue the other medicines as well. No need to hospitalise as of now.

In a week or two, you can expect her to be absolutely normal.

Wish you all the best.
