What Does"small Volume Lymph Nodes Keeping In Line With Tumor Noted" Mean?

Question: Re the lymph nodes it states on ct report- fat stranding small volume lymph nodes keeping in line with tumor noted. Does this mean there are just nodes there?

Fat stranding in CT Scan imaging indicates the presence of inflammation. The "strands" in fat surrounding bowel represent fluid and inflammatory cells. Small lymph nodes are due to caecal mass.These lymph nodes are the lymph draining sites and it becomes enlarged in malignancy. Lymph node involvement is important criteria in staging of many malignancies. During resection of tumour,these lymph nodes are also removed due to its involvement. Get well soon. But they have not stated enlarged lymph nodes they havw said small volume. What is the cure ratw like for a poss stage 3 colon cancer?

Detailed Answer: HelloXXXX Thanks for writing back Generally abdominal lymph nodes are not visible during imaging.If it is seen then it means these are enlarged from its normal size ,it may be small in appearance. A lot of things influences colon cancer survival rates. According to the American Cancer Society,83 percent of people with stage 3A colon cancer are still alive five years after their diagnosis.The survival rates for stage 3B is 64 percent and stage 3C is 44 percent.
